Michael Tear is an accomplished media executive with extensive expertise in film and television production, finance, business management, change management, government relations, and the broader policy environment of the screen industries.
As the Co-Founder and CEO of WildBear Entertainment, Michael has played a pivotal role in building one of Australia’s leading independent production companies. His career as a Producer and Executive Producer spans award-winning feature films, television documentaries, and factual series, as well as government and commercial productions.
With over 250 hours of film and television credits, Michael has overseen productions commissioned and acquired by Netflix, ABC, History Channel, Nine Network, Discovery, Arte, ZDF, and National Geographic. Notably, he served as an Executive Producer on the critically acclaimed feature film The Babadook.
Michael’s recent credits as an Executive Producer include: Every Little Thing (Sundance), Rachel’s Farm (Madman), The Black Hand (ABC), The Last Daughter (Netflix), Stuff The British Stole S1 & S2 (ABC, CBC), Ride (ABC), Runn (Netflix) and Joh: Last King of Queensland (Stan).
