Biography
Formerly a soldier and then a journalist, Martine Kropkowski now writes and researches narrative fiction. Her work examines how narratives shape, influence and drive social dialogue. Martine is drawn to work that experiments with form, asking what crime novels can be and do by pushing at its boundaries. Her first novel Everywhere We Look, about friendship, domestic abuse and violence, was critically acclaimed, shortlisted for the Ned Kelly Awards in the category of Best Debut Novel. Her second novel, Left Behind, set on the sand island of K’gari, explores place, change and uncertainty. Martine lives and works on Turrbul and Jagera land in Meanjin/Brisbane.
