Biography
Penny Chapman is an Australian screen producer and former television executive.

She was a founding partner of Matchbox Pictures with Tony Ayres, Michael McMahon, Helen Panckhurst and Helen Bowden. In its 18 years, Matchbox created 91 film and television titles with a production value of $1.4billion.

Penny’s Matchbox credits include Secret City, Deadline Gallipoli, Devil’s Playground, The Straits, Leaky Boat, Sex an Unnatural History and My Place.

Her previous credits for her company Chapman Pictures include RAN, Darwin’s Lost Paradise, Rampant: How A City Stopped a Plague, The Cooks, Temptation, The Road From Coorain and The Track.

During the 1990s Penny was Head of TV Drama, then Head of Television at the Australian Broadcasting Commission. During this time, she commissioned, and executive produced many dramas including Brides Of Christ, which she devised, The Leaving of Liverpool and Blue Murder.

In 2010 Penny was awarded the inaugural IF Award for Contribution to the Television Industry and in 2013 Penny received the Screen Producers Australia Maura Fay Award for Services to the industry.

Penny is currently developing television drama for Chapman Pictures.
