Biography
Luke is a producer and writer with a proven record of taking documentary series from concept, to development, to delivery to highly engaged audiences. He developed and continues to produce Never Too Small, an online series turned media brand with more than 3.2 million subscribers. While he has worked primarily in factual and documentary for the last decade, Luke has a wealth of experience across the industry, including in animation, VFX, scripted, and high-end commercial production. Thriving on engaging with form, his hybrid background brings a prowess in finding narrative structure across formats and genres that complements his drive to build empathy for those marginalised by greater social structures. Compelled by a working-class upbringing in the world's largest coal port, Luke is passionate about exploring socio-political issues with genuine empathy, particularly inequity in housing and the rapidly unobtainable Australian Dream. This passion led him to develop and produce the 6-part series Small Footprint and Wonderful Waste for Never Too Small, which both explore the future of housing and our cities. He also led the brand's successful adaptation into three seasons of a widely distributed television series. Alongside his factual and documentary work, as a writer both his screenplays and produced work have received awards at the Austin Film Festival and the Byron Bay International Film Festival. In 2019, he was selected for the VicScreen Writers Talent Register, and in 2023, was selected for VicScreen's Factual Originate program. The State of Man is the first series as a part of his expanding factual slate with a mix of projects for broadcast, theatrical, and online distribution.
