Indigenous Stories: Moving the Conversation Beyond Consultation

  • M12, Level 1 Crown Conference Centre 8 Whiteman Street Southbank VIC 3006 (map)

Join our panelists Heperi Mita, Greer Simpkin, Tanith Glynn-Maloney, Tony Briggs and to discuss the often contentious matter of intellectual property rights, revenue and collaboration with Indigenous Screen Creatives.

Our Moderator, ABC Journalist Daniel Browning navigates a provocative discussion around Intellectual property rights, revenue and Indigenous stories. How can the current model change to include more revenue streams for Indigenous filmmakers and does it work for the preservation of Indigenous narratives for the screen? How can non-indigenous Production Companies collaborate with Indigenous film practitioners and recognise that the ownership of Intellectual Property rights and a proportion of the revenue stays in the hands of the Indigenous communities and story tellers they originate from?
