Emma Roberts / VR Producer
Emma Roberts is a producer and production manager of location-based VR. Along with Director Ben Joseph Andrews, her work integrates VR within bespoke multi-sensory environments and performance-driven installations to create collective experiences. At the heart of her practice is the nexus between art-science, exploring tenets from neuroscience to expand perceptions, reawaken curiosity and instill a sense of awe and wonder to the world that we inhabit.
Along with Director Ben Joseph Andrews, her work has included immersive XR performances AlltheStarsTheyBleedTogether (2016) and Starless (2017) for City of Melbourne. Currently, she is working on Petrichor, a durational installation work tracking the impact of the climate crisis on the Daintree Rainforest. The project won the Greenpeace VR Prize at AIDC 2018, and has received production funding from Screen Australia and Film Victoria.
In early 2018, the pair were selected as one of eleven teams in the inaugural ACMI Xcel Accelerator, a program providing business and strategic guidance to outstanding creative tech makers. In 2019, they were named recipients of the Creative Victoria’s Creators Fund, and one of only a handful of Australian creators to be selected to pitch at Sheffield Doc/Fest’s Alternate Realities Marketplace and NewImages Festival in Paris in June 2019.
Work on her projects is facilitated by a supported residency at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image’s co-working space ACMI X.
