John Seale / Director of Photography
John Seale was born in 1942.
After schooling in Sydney he went bush with a camera and after two years returned to join the ABC in their camera department. Seven years later he became a freelance camera operator, and participated in the early resurgence of Australian feature films .
This led to an International career when asked by Peter Weir to film Witness in the USA , an Academy Award nomination for that film assured then a future in International film making.
Seale went on to participate in 50 odd films world wide and accumulated numerous international nominations and awards during that time. The English Patient gave him an American Academy Award with an English BAFTA and other European awards for cinematography.
He is threatening retirement after George Millers Mad Max Fury Road.
