Becky Read / Producer
Becky Read is a BAFTA and PGA nominated documentary producer & director with a background in current affairs. She has worked on subjects ranging from The News of the World phone hacking scandal to the death penalty for channels including BBC, Channel 4, Netflix, CNN Films, Discovery Channel and National Geographic.
Becky has recently directed her first film, a documentary for the BBC about the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, in February 2018.
Prior to that Becky produced the multi-award-winning feature documentary Three Identical Strangers. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance film festival 2018 and a DGA for outstanding directorial achievement, the film grossed over $12m at US box office, was shortlisted for an Academy Award and nominated for best documentary at both the British Academy Film Awards and the Producers Guild of America.
Her other films as producer include Life and Death in Chicago for the BBC, looking at the escalating rate and impact of shootings in America’s third biggest city, and a documentary about a rare form of dementia in Channel 4’s The Trouble with Dad.
Becky is currently working with producer Julia Nottingham developing a slate of new feature documentary ideas.
