Biography
Justin Davies is an award-winning producer of premium content in Australia and the UK.
Currently streaming on Stan is the psychological drama SIGNIFICANT OTHERS, executive produced by Justin for ABC Television and Fremantle. Starring Jacqueline McKenzie, Rachael Blake and Alison Bell, it was created by playwright Tommy Murphy and directed by Tony Krawitz. Shot on the Sydney coastline, it follows a single mother who fails to return from her morning swim, leaving a fractured family searching for clues.
Justin recently produced the AACTA-nominated 8-part surfing drama BARONS for ABC, paralleling the rise of Billabong and Quiksilver. The ensemble cast is led by Sean Keenan, Ben O'Toole and Jillian Nguyen. A co-production with Micanical Media and 2Jons, BARONS launched on The CW Network in Summer 2023.
Justin is Executive Producer of WELLMANIA, the Netflix international hit starring Celeste Barber, based on Brigid Delaney's book. He developed and sold the series with Delaney and Benjamin Law. The cast includes Remy Hii, Miranda Otto and Aden Young.
In the UK, Justin executive produced the comedy-drama QUACKS for BBC2, Wellcome Trust and NBCUniversal, exploring the frontiers of 19th-century medicine. It stars Rory Kinnear, Mat Baynton, Tom Basden, Rupert Everett and Lydia Leonard.
He produced the New Year's Eve single film of TWO DOORS DOWN, launching the BAFTA-winning BBC Scotland comedy now in its sixth season. He also initiated and sold TRACEY ULLMAN'S SHOW, which ran for three seasons on BBC One.
Justin produced WAY TO GO, a controversial "assisted suicide comedy" for the BBC starring Blake Harrison, and SOME GIRLS for BBC3, which ran for three seasons. He produced ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS for BBC1/BBC America in 2011–2012, which earned an International Emmy nomination and a BAFTA for Jennifer Saunders.
Justin won a BAFTA for the black comedy PSYCHOVILLE with Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton, and developed INSIDE NUMBER 9, now in its eighth season. He also produced the musical comedy BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE for BBC2, starring Olivia Colman and Meera Syal.
Other credits include the TO THE MANOR BORN 25th Anniversary Special, HR with Jonathan Pryce, and Foxtel's live coverage of the 2011 Sydney Mardi Gras. At the BBC he was Associate to Jon Plowman, Head of Comedy (2006–2009).
A NIDA graduate with a Masters from AFTRS, Justin's short documentary BUTTERFLY MAN won the Silver Cub at IDFA. He is a dual Australian-British citizen.
