Biography
Sophie started her film career with producer Michael Kuhn, following a start in television with companies Tiger Aspect and Company Pictures. In 2009 she joined the film/TV department of literary agency David Higham Associates working with screenwriters before taking the leap to the business side of the industry joining the legal and business affairs team of StudioCanal UK, with a particular focus on acquisitions and development. Sophie then moved to Perth, Australia for a short time and joined the development team at ScreenWest before working with See Pictures on productions including Simon Baker’s BREATH. On her return to the UK, Sophie joined WestEnd Films as head of acquisitions and development before moving to Bankside Films ahead of Cannes 2018. There she is responsible for acquiring a slate of distinctive feature films of quality with international theatrical potential. Recent successes include YOU WON’T BE ALONE, OF AN AGE, THE QUIET GIRL (Bafta and Oscar nominated), TALK TO ME (sold to A24 where it went on to break their box office records for a debut release), BRIAN AND CHARLES (Bafta nominated). More recently in 2025/6 title including WASTEMAN, THE BALLAD OF WALLIS ISLAND, and I SWEAR, all of which were BIFA winners and are Bafta nominated.
