Jessica Schmiedchen is an innovative media executive with close to 20 years experience in content development.

Jessica oversees development of original content and formats in the genres of factual, entertainment and documentary series at CBC and CBC Gem. She is responsible for sourcing the best new formats from around the world, and working with the independent production community in Canada to bring their ideas to life.

Since joining the Unscripted team in 2011, Jessica has led development on popular and award-winning series including Stuff the British Stole, Race Against the Tide, Best In Miniature, Canada’s Ultimate Challenge, You Can’t Ask That and the much anticipated Canada’s Great Pottery Throw Down and original paranormal series Ghosting.

UNSCRIPTED TV

Factual and entertainment series that can be produced as a treaty co-production between Canada and Australia, or executed as a format adapted specifically for the Canadian market. Seeking concepts that reflect a facet of modern Canadian life in an engaging and highly entertaining way. We’re open to pitches in multiple genres that help grow our entertainment brand, including bingeable competitive reality series that show off people and their passions; structured factual entertainment series with unique format twists, dramatic tension and larger-than-life characters; and comedic formats with clear hooks that showcase real Canadians in a positive light. Also seeking co-production opportunities for limited premium documentary series with a contemporary storyline and deep, unique access to characters.
