Biography
After completing an M.A. in Film Studies at University College Dublin, Aoife O’Sullivan went on to lecture in Film Studies and Media Analysis in Ballyfermot College of Further Education for 3 years. In 2000, Aoife joined Subotica as a producer to work across all productions in a creative and production capacity, working with writers, directors and co-producers in the development and production of content for cinema and television.
In the 2010’s Aoife produced the Jimi Hendrix biopic All is By My Side starring Andre Benjamin and Imogen Poots; the feature film Young Ones starring Michael Shannon, Nicholas Hoult and Elle Fanning and directed by Jake Paltrow; and Miss Julie, the Irish period drama starring Jessica Chastain and Colin Farrell.
In 2018 Aoife produced the prison drama Michael Inside, directed by Frank Berry. The film was critically acclaimed at home and internationally, it won Best Film at the 2018 Irish Film and Television Awards and was acquired by Netflix.
In 2019 Aoife produced feature film The Other Lamb, an Irish-Belgian co-production directed by Silver Bear winner Malgorzata Szumowska and starring Raffey Cassidy and Michiel Huisman.
More recently Aoife has produced the television series Red Election for Viaplay and A+E, and the Irish drama North Sea Connection for RTÉ and Viaplay.
In 2022 Aoife saw two feature films released: the direct provision drama Aisha directed by Frank Berry, starring Letitia Wright (Black Panther) and Josh O’Connor (The Crown); and the comedy feature Joyride, directed by Emer Reynolds and starring Academy Award winner Olivia Colman in the lead role. Most recently in 2023 Aoife has produced period feature Freud’s Last Session starring Anthony Hopkins due for release in 2024 and psychological thriller 4-parter The Boy That Never Was set for broadcast in April/May 2024.
