Biography
David Cook is a First Nations writer, director, and producer from Meanjin, rapidly emerging as a formidable talent in the Australian film industry. His debut feature film, Heart of the Man, was completed at one of Australia’s leading post-production houses, The Post Lounge, and is currently making its rounds on the festival circuit. This year, the film was showcased at Festival de Cannes, where David proudly attended.
David’s passion for amplifying First Nations voices is evident in his work. His documentary feature, Frontline Rangers, is currently in development with Screen Queensland and has garnered significant attention. Earlier this year, he won the Factory Pitching Prize at AIDC in March, and the project was a finalist at Sunny Side of the Doc in La Rochelle.
In addition to his work in film, David was a panelist at Screen Forever, where he was featured in "The New Wave of Aussie Talent," and a speaker at this year’s AIDC Regionality on the Sunshine Coast. The Badtjala creative is actively developing a slate of long-form projects, further solidifying his place in the industry.
