Biography
Dan has been writing and producing film, TV and web content for the last ten years. Prior to this, he graduated with his 'Theatre and Film Arts Degree' at the University of South Queensland in 2008. In 2011, Dan was mentored in the course by Peter Herbert @ AFTRS, focused on screenwriting and producing for Film & TV. By the end of 2017, Dan completed co-writing and producing the 6x10min online series 'Sexy Herpes', funded with the assistance of Screen Australia. 'Sexy Herpes' has been acquired by Channel 9 and Virgin In-flight Entertainment and was sold as a format sale overseas to a French-Canadian production company – where it went on to be adapted into a successful long form TV comedy, ‘Sans Rendez-Vous’. In 2019, when ‘Monsters of Many Worlds’, was released on SBS via an initiative in collab with Screen Queensland. Dan is developing a new female-driven and culturally diverse online series set in FNQ, called 'Blood Sisters'. The 'Proof Of Concept' for Blood Sisters was shot in late 2019 and backed by Screen Aus and Screen QLD. Dan co-wrote and produced his debut feature film, 'A Savage Christmas', in cinemas and on Binge in late 2023, and went on to be nominated for the AACTA award for Best Indie Feature. Blood Sisters feature is the follow-up film where he is co-writer/co-producer, and it is scheduled for production in late 2024. Dan has a range TV and Film projects in development for 2024. Feature film ‘Night Terror’, to be written and directed by his dual producer, Ben McNeill, is scheduled for production in 2025. Dan remains a staunch advocate for disability visibility within the Film and TV sector and is actively seeking ways to incorporate his tribe into all ATL and BTL roles on all his projects. As the father of two BIPOC children, the need to foster diversity couldn't be more paramount for Dan, as he aims to meaningfully collaborate with co-founder, Max Jahufer, to drive the 'Roaring Tribe Collective' venture in paving the way for inclusivity and the normalisation of diversity in the now, and for generations to come.
