Today, Screen Producers Australia (SPA) revealed three more unmissable sessions taking place at SCREEN FOREVER 39 (Tuesday, 6 May – Thursday, 8 May 2025), Australia’s premier screen industry event.
Delegates should come prepared to get straight into the action as the highly anticipated conference is set to kick off with three thought-provoking sessions, providing unique insights into the future of the screen industry.
As the screen industry navigates rapid technological shifts, evolving audience behaviours, and dynamic market forces, two State of Play sessions will bring together some of the most influential leaders across distribution, exhibition, and streaming to explore the challenges and opportunities shaping the industry.
On day one, two-time Walkley Award winner, Virginia Trioli, and presenter of Creative Types With Virginia Trioli, will moderate the first State of Play session with a panel of Industry experts, including Wendy Moore, Executive Director – Entertainment Content, Foxtel Group, Paul Wiegard, CEO and Co-Founder at Madman Entertainment, Damian Keogh, CEO and President at The HOYTS Group and Cailah Scobie, Chief Content Officer at Stan.
Each panellist will deliver their projected outlook on the industry, followed by an engaging Q&A and combined conversation. Key topics include the resurgence of theatrical releases, the transformative impact of streaming platforms, shifting economics in content production, and the role of partnerships in sustaining a competitive and vibrant ecosystem.
Also on day one, delegates can enjoy an exclusive opportunity as Michael Ebeid AM presents Screen Australia’s Future Focus. The Screen Australia Chair will sit down one-on-one with SPA Council President Tracey Vieira, to discuss how the agency will support and shape a vibrant, viable Australian screen industry.
Michael Ebeid AM, Chair of Screen Australia, said, “SCREEN FOREVER is an opportunity for the production industry to shape a sustainable future together, share insights and celebrate achievements. The screen sector is rapidly changing at a local and global level, and Screen Australia is evolving accordingly. I’m excited to share our new strategic framework for the years ahead, which will better position the organisation to tackle not only the challenges of today but the opportunities of tomorrow.”
Virginia will be on stage again on day three for the State of Play with Hugh Marks session. As Managing Director of the ABC, Hugh will join Virginia for a one-on-one conversation, sharing his perspective on shifts affecting the screen industry at home and abroad and delivering a unique presentation of his projected outlook on the industry, followed by Q+A.
All three sessions are set to ignite critical conversations and provide invaluable insights for creators, producers, and industry professionals alike.
