Mithila Gupta is a screenwriter/creator/showrunner who has been writing popular Aussie television for over a decade. Her sweeping romance series FOUR YEARS LATER, shot between India and Australia, was produced with Easy Tiger and released in October on SBS and earned both critical and audience acclaim. Her audio series DESI DOWN UNDER was released by Audible India globally in 2022. Mithila wrote all 9 episodes and is currently adapting the series as a feature film with Meralta Films.

Mithila has written on BUMP (Stan, The CW and BBC), FIVE BEDROOMS (Paramount+/Peacock/BBC). She was Head Writer on THE UNLISTED (ABC/Netflix) which won the International Youth Prize in 2020. She’s also written on international hit DOCTOR DOCTOR (Nine/AcornTV), THE HEIGHTS (ABC/BBC), PLAYING FOR KEEPS (Ten), WINNERS AND LOSERS (Seven) and more. She was the assistant script editor on sci-fi CLEVERMAN (ABC/AMC). Mithila started her career on Australia’s longest running drama, NEIGHBOURS where she introduced an Indian family to the previously all white cast. Mithila passionately aspires to diversify the television industry. She mentors emerging writers and is a founding member of the Australian Writer’s Guild’s first Diversity and Inclusion committee.
