Biography
Susan Cartsonis is a producer and co-founder of Resonate Entertainment, a media company focused on films for the female audience. The Hollywood Reporter named Susan Cartsonis one of the 5 top box office producers of the year for What Women Want—the highest-grossing romantic comedy of all-time at the time of its release, and number two to this day, as well as Where the Heart Is, starring Natalie Portman. Recent films include True Spirit, the story of Australian sailing icon Jessica Watson’s journey, Sitting in Bars with Cake, starring Bette Midler and Yara Shahidi, and Feel the Beat, starring Sofia Carson. Her young adult hits include The Duff, Beastly, Aquamarine, Middle School, Invisible Sister, Freaky Friday the Musical, and the third of the Descendants film trilogy for Disney, which also co-starred Sofia Carson. She produced the Sundance hit Deidra & Laney Rob a Train as well as Toronto Film Festival standout Carrie Pilby (Bel Powley, Nathan Lane). An executive at 20th Century Fox for nearly a decade, she oversaw films that include Rookie of the Year, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, (which spawned the billion-dollar television franchise). The Minority Report, Nell (Jodie Foster), French Kiss (Meg Ryan, Kevin Kline), The Truth About Cats and Dogs, For the Boys (Bette Midler), and Dying Young (Julia Roberts). At Fox, she supervised the talent deals of The Farrelly Brothers, Geena Davis, Richard Gere, and Johnny Depp. Other producing credits include Mistress of Spices (starring Aishwarya Rai), No Reservations (Catherine Zeta-Jones), and Firelight (Sophie Marceau).
