Biography
Josh wrote and directed The Landing in 2013, a period Sci-Fi short that premiered at the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival, winning Best Short Film and qualifying for the 2015 Academy Awards®. It collected over fifteen awards at major festivals and over one million views across Vimeo and YouTube.
With support from Screen Australia’s Hot Shots program in 2016, Josh wrote and directed Wandering Soul, a supernatural horror short set during the Vietnam War. The film won several awards, and its online release garnered nearly two million views.
Josh joined Danger Close as Kriv Stenders’ director’s attachment and splinter unit director in 2018. That same year, he wrote and directed The Rizzle for Fox Digital and Hulu’s Huluween Film Festival, and released Reverse, a supernatural short, optioned by the Russo Brothers’ AGBO Films for feature development.
In 2021, he wrote and directed Decommissioned, a Sci-Fi/Horror short set aboard the International Space Station, produced using Unreal Engine through Epic Games’ Short Film Challenge and Screen Queensland. Runner-up in the competition, the film is currently being developed as a feature with Brad Fuller (A Quiet Place, The Purge).
Josh is currently in post-production on his debut feature, Posthumous. Blending practical effects, analog horror, and psychological suspense, the film explores themes of grief, identity, and the supernatural. Backed by Screen Australia, Screen Queensland, City of Gold Coast Screen Attraction Program, local distributor Kismet and international sales agent Architect, Posthumous marks Josh’s transition into long-form storytelling while continuing his focus on elevated genre filmmaking.
