Description
This panel explores two landmark frameworks set to reshape the Australian screen industry and the way we work, now and into the future.
"Scene Change: Modelling Innovative Practices for Screen Workforce Sustainability" is a report commissioned by the Screen Australia Gender Matters Taskforce, examines practical models for traditional production models, including the 8‑hour day, a 9‑day fortnight, and comprehensive job‑sharing across roles. Alongside this, the ScreenWell commissioned "Australian Screen Industry Mental Health Action Plan" (MHAP) provides a clear, sector‑wide framework for improving mental health outcomes and creating safer, more sustainable workplaces.
Together, these initiatives offer producers - large and small - a practical blueprint to meet emerging legal obligations while also building a healthier, more resilient workforce. This conversation focuses on the achievable shifts that can deliver meaningful change, showing how small adjustments in the way we work can lead to lasting gains across the industry.
