Biography
In a current role as Executive Producer, Scripted Sophia is focused on creating and producing premium Australian drama and comedy series for an Australian and international audience with a focus on original IP and adaptations. She is currently Executive Producing Ghosts, Australia for Paramount + and Network 10 and Return to Paradise for the ABC and BBC UK.
Through Bunya Entertainment Sophia produced the much-loved international eight-part comedy series, The Office Australia, starring Felicity Ward which broadcast on Amazon Prime globally in 2024 and was the #1 TV show in Australia on Prime Video with the biggest opening weekend viewership for any Australian title. Sophia also produced six -part drama series for the ABC, Ladies in Black, a television adaptation of the award-winning Bruce Beresford film. The series starred Debi Mazar (Entourage, Emily in Paris) Miranda Otto (The Clearing) and Jessica De Gouw (Survivors) with AACTA winner Gracie Otto (Heartbreak High, The Artful Dodger, The Clearing) directing all six episodes. The series was the 2024 top commissioned drama on ABC iView.
Sophia also produced six-part comedy series The Moth Effect for Amazon Prime featuring Vincent D’Onofrio and Bobby Cannavale. The series was nominated for Best Comedy at the 2020 AACTA Awards.
Prior to her five years as co-MD of Bunya Entertainment, Sophiawas the Screen NSW Director of Investment, Engagement and Attraction leading the screen program for state. During her three years at the agency, she oversaw the commissioning of award-winning productions.
Prior to joining Screen NSW, Sophia was the Deputy Head of Entertainment and Executive Producer at ABC TV for over nine years where she commissioned over thirty-five award-winning television titles, including seven series of Gruen, Shaun Micallef’s Mad as Hell, Hungry Beast, The Chaser’s War on Everything, The Checkout and Kitchen Cabinet with Annabel Crab.
Sophia currently sits on the National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA) Board as a non-executive Director.
