Message from the Premier of Queensland

15 JAN 2021

Premier of Queensland

We are delighted to partner with Screen Producers Australia to deliver Australia’s flagship screen industry conference, SCREEN FOREVER in 2021.

From 16–18 February 2021, SCREEN FOREVER will immerse more than 700 local and international delegates in an engaging program of guest speakers, workshops, and networking events via a live digital platform, while showcasing the State’s world-class production capability.

As Premier of Queensland, I am a proud supporter of our competitive and innovative screen industry, which drives investment, creates jobs, and promotes Queensland destinations to the world.

The Queensland Government, through the work of Screen Queensland, plays a vital role in the continued growth and evolution of our local screen industry.

Our Production Attraction Strategy is delivering back-to-back blockbusters, filming at the fit for-purpose Screen Queensland Studios at Hemmant, and the Gold Coast’s Village Roadshow Studios – the largest sound stage in the southern hemisphere.

We’ve committed $5 million towards building a new reality television hub on the Gold Coast, to secure further local and international productions.

Aligned with our Far North Queensland Screen Production Strategic Plan, we’re investing $6.8 million in a new film studio and sound stage in Cairns.

And we’re encouraging greater diversity in front of the camera and behind it, with the R.I.D.E (Respect, Inclusion, Diversity, Equality) Feature Film Fund elevating voices from the industry’s under-represented backgrounds.

Working with screen professionals from across the country, we are changing Australia’s screen industry landscape forever and for the better.

In 2021, SCREEN FOREVER will be a celebration of our resilient screen industry and a platform for greater collaboration, at a time of enormous demand for homegrown content.

We are pleased the Queensland Government and Screen Queensland can join SCREEN FOREVER as Principal Partner and we thank Screen Producers Australia for their work, tailoring the program to an exclusive digital platform. While it’s disappointing we cannot host SCREEN FOREVER delegates in person this year, we hope the interactive digital event inspire delegates to consider future opportunities to create in Queensland, utilising our state-of-the-art facilities and diverse filming locations.
