Senior Director of Children's Content for CBC Kids
Marie McCann is the Senior Director of Children's Content at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. CBC Kids' mandate is to create and curate content that entertains, informs and reflects the diversity of kids in Canada from two to teen.
Marie's career in children's media began at TVOntario as a writer/producer where she won a Gemini Award for Gisele's Big Backyard. In 2007 she moved to CBC where he helped create the in-house flagship series "Kids' CBC". Since taking the role of Senior Director at CBC Kids in 2017, Marie and her team expanded in house production with "Studio K" and "Gary's Magic Fort". Marie and the CBC Kids Content team have developed and commissioned home grown and live action originals such as "Molly of Denali", "Dino Ranch", "Mittens and Pants" and "Detention Adventure" and have curated a collection of acquisitions from around the globe such as "Paddington Bear" and "Hello Kitty Superstyle" for our national television block and streamer, CBC GEM.
Our array of original daily games, activities and news content on cbc.ca and cbckidsnews.ca have become a popular staple for school kids across the country. Street Cents, our reboot of CBC's iconic financial literacy series, is helping teens and Gen Z's make money stuff make sense daily on Tik Tok and YouTube.
