Biography
Rick is an International Emmy-nominated screenwriter/producer, who’s been named among The Sydney Morning Herald’s Most Influential People in Australian TV. 

He is currently developing features with UK director Jennifer Perrott (HBO/BBC’s Gentleman Jack) and producer Kristian Moliere (The Babadook). Rick wrote / co-presented acclaimed ABC podcast Laya’s Way Home, finalist at the 2024 New York Festivals Radio Awards.

From 2013-2020, Rick was ABC Head of Comedy, overseeing some 100 scripted titles, which to date have earned some 90 AACTA nominations, Logie Awards and other honours.

ABC titles commissioned by Rick include continuing hits Fisk and Utopia, plus Rosehaven, BAFTA nominee Frayed, The Letdown, Please Like Me, Get Krack!n, The Katering Show, Ronny Chieng: International Student and Wrong Kind of Black, for which Rick shared a 2019 International Emmy Award nomination.

His own award-winning creator/writer credits include ABC comedies At Home with Julia and Wednesday Night Fever.

His first script, AACTA nominated comedy The Honourable Wally Norman, was produced by Best Picture Oscar winner Emile Sherman and opened the 2003 Sydney Film Festival.

Rick has developed pilots for BBC, and Fox/Imagine Television in the US.

A former lawyer, Rick was Associate to Justice Mary Gaudron at the High Court of Australia.
