Description

The market for Australian TV drama and comedy is now truly global, not just with Australian shows securing international sales and attracting international finance, but also with Australian series being remade in foreign territories, providing ancillary revenue streams for Australian producers and companies. But what is this path to international adaptation success? How lucrative is it? How much creative input is there for the shows originators? And what is its real value to Australian producers?

This panel will also consider adaptation the other way; is there room for more international shows to be remade in Australia? What are the ramifications of this for both companies and creators? This session will case study some of Australia's most successful off-shore content adapted into foreign territories to acclaim and commercial success including Fremantle's Wentworth, Every Cloud's Miss Fisher, and Jungle's No Activity.
