Biography
Yolanda Ramke is an award-winning screenwriter and director. In 2013, she wrote the short film Cargo (co-directed with Ben Howling), which garnered over 20 million views on YouTube and strong reviews from pop culture sites such as Upworthy, BuzzFeed and Short Of The Week. In 2015, Yolanda’s screenplay for the feature adaptation of Cargo was announced as the inaugural winner of the ‘Gateway LA Script Prize’ (Australians In Film). In 2016, Yolanda made her feature co-directing debut (alongside Howling) on the film, produced by AACTA® award-winner Kristina Ceyton (The Babadook) and Samantha Jennings (Causeway Films) and US producers Russell Ackerman and John Schoenfelder. Starring BAFTA® and Emmy® Award winning actor, Martin Freeman, Cargo premiered internationally at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival and was released globally as the first Australian Netflix Original feature. Yolanda received the Australian Writer’s Guild award for ‘Feature Film - Adapted’ for her screenplay. Cargo was also nominated for five Australian Academy of Television & Cinema Arts (AACTA® ) awards, including Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Film, for Best Film by the Film Critics Circle of Australia, and a Fangoria Chainsaw Award nomination for Best First Feature. In 2019, Yolanda and Ben were invited to co-direct two episodes of The Haunting Of Bly Manor, the follow-up to hit Netflix series, The Haunting Of Hill House, created by Mike Flanagan. Most recently, Yolanda completed production as creator, writer, executive producer and director on the ABC crime series, Troppo, starring Thomas Jane and Nicole Chamoun.
