Billy Bowring started his career in London building scenery on films including Mike Leigh’s Mr Turner, before moving into script development. He began writing script coverage for Pathé and Working Title. He then moved to Number 9 Films as a producer’s assistant, working on feature films. These included Todd Haynes’ film, Carol, starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara. After spending some time producing short films and music videos, he moved to Sydney and began working in script development with Fremantle Australia. As Fremantle’s Development Manager, he was responsible for building and guiding FMA’s drama slate and working closely with creative talent. He was at Fremantle for four years, across productions such as Wentworth and Picnic At Hanging Rock. He joined See-Saw Films in 2019 as a Development Producer. In his time working across See-Saw’s slate, they produced Thomas M. Wright’s The Unknown Man, starring Joel Edgerton and Sean Harris, and Firebite, an Indigenous genre series for AMC by writer/director Warwick Thornton.
