Biography
Loani Arman is a writer, director, and screen executive bringing stories to life across scripted drama and documentary while championing equity and inclusion in the screen industry.

She is a regular contributor to writers’ rooms and has written on projects for some of Australia’s leading production companies, including Fremantle Australia and Magpie Pictures. Loani also recently co-wrote an adaptation of a popular horror Webtoon series with her writing partner, Diya Eid.

Her ABC commissioned digital documentary My Body Says premiered in 2020 and won Best Short Form Documentary at the Australian International Documentary Conference Awards (AIDC). In 2019, she won the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Pitch Competition, which led to her award-winning short film Our Greatest Escape. She was also selected for Australians in Film ‘Charlie’s Lab’ in Los Angeles, where she developed her half-hour scripted series The Mother Load.

Alongside her creative work, Loani has held senior creative roles in the Australian screen sector. She was Scripted Commissioning Editor at SBS, working across the development and production of original series including Safe Home, Erotic Stories, Swift Street, and Four Years Later, and served as Executive Producer across the network’s short-form drama and features slate, including the AACTA Award-winning Latecomers. Previously, she was Content Director at Screen Queensland and a Drama Associate at Showtime Australia, working across over 60 hours of original drama commissions including Cloudstreet, Tangle, and Satisfaction.

Proud of her Indonesian heritage, Loani previously served as Co-Chair of the Screen Diversity and Inclusion Network (SDIN), reflecting her ongoing commitment to inclusive storytelling.
