Biography
Loani Arman is a proud Indonesian-Australian woman with over 20 years experience as a story specialist, screen executive, and creative.

Most recently, Loani was SBS Commissioning Editor where she worked across development and production of the network’s original scripted programming. Her credits as Commissioning Editor include ‘Erotic Stories’, ‘Safe Home’, ‘While the Men Are Away’, and the upcoming, ‘Swift Street’. She was also the Executive Producer on ‘Latecomers’, the only Australian series in competition at Series Mania last year; on ‘Appetite’, which screened at Canneseries in 2023; and on ‘Night Bloomers’, which premiered at SXSW Sydney. Loani continues to consult for SBS across their short form drama slate.

Prior to SBS, Loani was a Content Director at Screen Queensland where she led their development programs and talent development initiatives. Earlier in her career, she was the Drama Associate for Showtime Australia, working across original drama commissions including ‘Cloudstreet’ and ’Tangle’, amongst others.

As a creative, Loani has had an eight-part drama series in development through the Stan/Screen Queensland Premium Drama Fund, and in 2019, was selected for the Screen Queensland and Australians in Film 'Charlie's Lab' in LA to develop her comedy pilot, The Mother Load.

Her documentary series, My Body Says (ABC) won the inaugural AIDC Best Short Form Award in 2020, and in 2019, Loani was the winner of the AACTA Pitch Competition with her award winning short, Our Greatest Escape.

Loani is also the Co-Chair of the Screen Diversity & Inclusion Network (SDIN).
