Biography
Alan is an Emmy Award winning producer (FOREVER PURE), EFP Producer on the Move (2017), one of Hollywood Reporter’s Irish Rising Stars to Watch (2017), ACE Producer, and Inside Pictures Graduate. Alan began his career as an actor before moving into development and producing. Alan was Head of Development at Element Pictures from 2002-2005. Alan joined Screen Ireland (then the Irish Film Board) as Executive Producer/Production Executive in 2006, where he stayed for six years and was responsible for more than fifty feature films and documentaries including GOOD VIBRATIONS, GRABBERS, WAKE WOOD, LAST DAYS ON MARS, KNUCKLE, THE SUMMIT, KELLY+VICTOR, and DREAMS OF A LIFE. Upon leaving Screen Ireland in 2013, Alan set up ROADS Entertainment (changing its name to Marcie Films in 2016) with Danielle Ryan, producing, amongst others, Anthony Wonke’s BEING AP (2015), which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2015; Maya Zinshtein’s FOREVER PURE (as co-producer), which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2016; and LOSING ALASKA, which premiered at IDFA in 2018.
Alan developed and produced Pat Collins’ SONG OF GRANITE, theatrically in 2017 to critical acclaim following a successful A-list festival run, by Oscilloscope in the US, and Thunderbird Releasing in the UK and Canada. SONG OF GRANITE was Ireland's Official Entry for the Foreign Language category in 2018 Academy Awards. Alan developed and produced Mark O’Halloran and Peter Mackie Burns’ RIALTO, premiering at Venice Biennale 2019, was released theatrically and online in 2020, and won two IFTA awards.
