SOUTH PACIFIC PICTURES is one of New Zealand’s largest production company with an international reputation for producing world-class television and film.

The company is in its third decade of operation and to date has produced more than 5600 hours of programming. Drama series and serials, comedies, feature films, entertainment, reality and documentaries are all part of the mix.

South Pacific Pictures’ productions include the primetime nightly serial drama Shortland Street, now in its third decade; the eighth season of The Brokenwood Mysteries, a crime-drama much-loved by viewers all around the world; three series of the drama 800 Words, a co-production with Seven Network Australia; The Sounds, an eight-part Canadian co-production thriller/drama for Acorn TV and Prime/Sky NZ; a third series of the irreverent comedy Educators available on 10 Play/SBS OnDemand and TVNZ OnDemand; two season of the family drama Head High for THREE; and six series of comedy-drama Westside, an Outrageous Fortune prequel for THREE.

Their most recent film This Town, was released during lockdown but still remained at number one for many weeks. Earlier film titles include White Lies, Sione’s Wedding and Sione’s 2 and the multi award winning Whale Rider. In addition to its drama and film slate, South Pacific Pictures’ Unscripted offering continues to grow, with titles including Travel Guides NZ; Snackmasters NZ; and Sort Your Life Out NZ.
