Viv Baker is a student and aspiring adult living and working in Naarm (Melbourne). Originally from Queensland, she made the leap interstate in an attempt to find some excitement and purpose in a post-pandemic world. After winning the Somerset National Poetry Prize in 2018, she decided to pursue writing more seriously and began a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne in 2020, majoring in Creative Writing. She hopes to move into the world of editing and publishing in her postgraduate study, and continue creating work that resonates and gives language to the intangible and frankly ridiculous experience of being human.
We acknowledge and pay respects to the Yugambeh people of the Gold Coast and all their descendants both past and present. We also acknowledge the many Aboriginal people from other regions as well as Torres Strait and South Sea Islander people who now live in the local area and have made an important contribution to the community.
