Biography
Jason Stephens is one of Australia’s most prolific and highly awarded drama producers.
Most recently he was the lead Producer on Upright, a co-production for Foxtel Australia and Sky UK starring Tim Minchin. Rated 8.5 on IMDB, it has received ardent critical and audience acclaim. He is currently in production on a second season.
He was also the lead Producer on Lambs of God, a gothic miniseries which now ranks as one of Australian TV's most successful drama exports. Starring Emmy Award-winner Ann Dowd, Essie Davis and Jessica Barden, the series premiered in Official Competition at Series Mania in Lille. Lambs of God received a record-breaking 18 nominations and nine wins at the AACTAs.
Other recent credits include: The Secrets She Keeps starring Laura Carmichael and Jessica de Gouw (which after being acquired by the BBC was their highest Monday night launch of the year); On the Ropes starring Keisha Castle Hughes and Nicole Chamoun; and Wake in Fright starring David Wenham.
These shows were produced under the Lingo Pictures umbrella, a company that Jason formed with Helen Bowden in 2015.
Previous to Lingo, Jason produced five television dramas under a joint venture with FremantleMedia. Furthermore, Jason was Director of Development at FremantleMedia from 2006 and Creative Director from 2010.
