The Bunya Talent Hub LA, supported by Netflix and Screen Australia ‘s Indigenous Department, is a five-day incubator program facilitated by Australians in Film in Los Angeles. The selected projects are by some of our best Indigenous creative talent across a variety of genres and formats.
The creative teams and participants comprise a total of fourteen screen practitioners, with their projects including a range of feature film and TV series ideas encompassing comedy, drama, and the supernatural.
As part of the Incubator the teams receive development funding, one-on-one international mentorship from Australians in Film (AiF) and participate in a companion writing program with Netflix. One project will then be chosen for a development deal with Netflix, and to be produced with the esteemed Bunya Productions. Originally scheduled to take place in Los Angeles in May 2020, the Hub was rescheduled into a virtual event in early 2021 due to Covid-19 travel restrictions. Representatives from Screen Australia’s Indigenous department, Netflix and some of the selected teams will discuss the initiative, the projects being developed, the regeneration and depth of talent in Australian Indigenous filmmaking and Netflix taking these stories to a global stage.
