I am responsible for both acquisitions and co-productions at RTE. For Acquisitions we usually acquire when a full first episode is available to view, but if it is really strong subject from a supplier we have used before we may pre-buy based on the script, the creative team and the cast. Our priorities are scripted drama series, and single camera comedies. I do acquire non-fiction, but we are very well stocked already from existing deals. If there are documentaries which have Irish content therein, we would be interested to hear about them. For Co-Productions I work with our head of drama. He works on the editorial, from development to delivery. I complement him on the Co-pro side by finding international partners, broadcasters, producers, platforms and streamers as well as brokering deals with distributors and sourcing soft funding from government agencies. We have recently completed a new 6 part drama series with TV New Zealand, with Red Arrow as the international distributor and with support from both the Irish and New Zealand film and tv media support agencies and tax relief supports. With some of our usual US partners suffering from the current SVOD financial crisis it is really important for us to find other partners in the short to medium term.
