Description

The Senate will play an important role in the Parliamentary debate and vote on the Government’s proposed streaming services regulation that will be legislated later this year. With a long-term interest in cultural policy and a commitment to the arts sector, both Senator Sarah Hanson-Young and Senator Perin Davey have a perspective on regulation for the Australian screen industry which is important to explore and debate.

Senator Sarah Hanson-Young is the chair of a current Senate Environment and Communications References Committee inquiry into the National Cultural Policy and Senator Davey is a member of this committee. Both therefore have a detailed understanding of stakeholder positions on SVOD regulation that is of much interest to SPA members.

We sit down with both Senators and Karl Quinn, Senior Culture Writer at The Age and Sydney Morning Herald.
