From writing the finale on the same series she earned her first television credit, Niki Aken has worked prolifically across television drama and comedy. She script-produced the critically acclaimed series Upright (Foxtel, Sky UK, Lingo), starring Tim Minchin, which won the 2020 AACTA Award for Best Comedy Series. Niki returns as Script Producer and writer for the highly anticipated second series.

Niki also wrote for The Newsreader (ABC, Werner Productions), which scored sixteen 2021 AACTA nominations and won Best Drama Series. She also script-produced Why Are You Like This?, which won the Best Situation/Narrative Comedy Series AWGIE in 2021.

Prior to this, Niki co-wrote The Hunting (SBS / Closer Productions), which earned Niki and co-writer Matthew Cormack the 2019 AACTA Award for Best Screenplay in Television and was the highest-rating commissioned drama series in SBS history.

More recently, Niki wrote an episode for drama series Significant Others (Fremantle Media/ABC), which films in 2022. She wrote on multiple seasons of acclaimed legal thriller Janet King (ABC), as well as writing on multiple series of hit true-crime drama series Underbelly.
