Biography
Katharine Thornton is the CEO of Sharmill Films. Australia’s longest running Independent Film Distributor. Katharine has been with Sharmill Films since 2010 and has an uncanny knack for nurturing content. Consistently recognising filmmakers and stories that translate successfully on screen. She started her career working for Academy Award Winning producer Emile Sherman, has studied at Cambridge Business School, and has a reputation for delivering sensational cinematic experiences.

Katharine has distributed numerous Academy Award, Golden Globe and Palme d’Or winning films. Including Ruben Östlund’s Triangle of Sadness. Florian Zeller’s The Father, starring Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Colman, and Lady Macbeth starring Florence Pugh. She works directly with The National Theatre in London, The Australian Ballet and The Met Opera in New York to bring the best of the arts to cinema.
