Biography
Antony I. Ginnane is a 51-year veteran of the film and television industry. Since 1970 Ginnane has produced or executive produced 72 films, mini-series and TV series in Australia, New Zealand, the USA, Canada, the Philippines, and Eastern Europe including classics such as “Patrick”, “High Tide” and “The Lighthorsemen”, and more recently “Screamers”.

In 2011 he produced the award-winning “Last Dance” with Julia Blake and Firass Dirani.

In 2012 he produced in Melbourne a reimagining of his 1978 feature “Patrick” with Rachel Griffiths, Charles Dance and Sharni Vinson. “Patrick” was selected for competition at Sitges 2013 and Fantastic Fest in Austin.

He produced “Bad Blood” with Xavier Samuel and Morgan Griffin in South Australia in 2016. It was released theatrically in Australia and the USA in October 2017, having its world premiere at the Adelaide Film Festival.

His most recent feature “Never Too Late” (2020) starred James Cromwell, Dennis Waterman, Jacki Weaver, Jack Thompson and Shane Jacobson and released Australia wide on October 2020. Notwithstanding Covid, it was the fourth highest grossing Australian theatrical release in 2021.

His latest project “The Girl At The Window” starring Radha Mitchell and Ella Newton released worldwide in mid-2022. A sequel to this project is currently in the works.

He was a partner in distribution start-ups in Australia, NZ, the Philippines and Hong Kong through the 80s. From 1991 to 1995 he consulted to Fries Entertainment in Los Angeles.

In 2014 he established a joint venture television production company with Sydney-based TV producer and writer Kris Wyld to create and develop a slate of high-end television drama projects. “Pulse” – an 8 x 1hr medical series for ABC TV was their first project. It premiered on ABC-TV in 2017.

His feature film company, F G Film Productions (Australia), has offices in Melbourne and Los Angeles, and has a slate of Australian productions in development including “Ruby, Ruby”, “Million Dollar Heels” and “Symphony For The Man” along with the high budget feature “Fair Game” and the animated feature “The Arvee Chronicle” (in partnership with Toonz and Accent Media).

He served as President of SPAA from 2008-2011, is a member of the Producers Guild of America, BAFTA Los Angeles and the Caucus for Writers, Producers and Directors. He served on the Board of IFTA from 2004-2008.

His book “The Unusual Suspects – 104 Films that made World Cinema” was published by Currency Press in November 2015.
