Commercial Director, Scripted, BBC Studios Productions
Caroline Stone is the Commercial Director, Scripted at BBC Studios Productions, responsible for sourcing and developing world-class creativity and commercially-viable scripted IP. She took up the role at the beginning of 2023, as part of BBC Studios drive to take a single strategic view across all scripted productions, talent relationships and content investment globally.
As Commercial Director, Scripted, Caroline works with both the award-winning BBC Studios Production Units across drama and comedy as well as with BBC Studios’ expanding portfolio of production labels. These currently comprise Sid Gentle (Killing Eve, Rain Dogs), House Productions (Sherwood, Six Four) Firebird Pictures (Wilderness, Wahala) and Clerkenwell Films (End of The F**king World, Somewhere Boy). Additionally, Caroline oversees BBC Studios’ relationship with the majority owned Baby Cow (Chivalry, The Witchfinder), as well as its invested indies.
She is also responsible for establishing development deals with leading British creatives, as well as finding production funding and distribution agreements with third party indies, some two hundred of which BBC Studios currently partners. These range from successful long-standing relationships such as Hartswood Films (Sherlock, Inside Man) and Red Planet Pictures (Death In Paradise, Beyond Paradise) to new partnerships such as Ascendant Fox and Matriarch Productions (Boiling Point).
Prior to her new role, Caroline was Commercial Director for drama. She has been with BBC Studios (formerly BBC Worldwide) for almost 20 years and has worked across a broad spectrum of drama and digital sales functions.
