Biography
Belinda Chayko is a writer, director and showrunner for film and television. She was showrunner and co-creator of the six-part anthology Fires (ABC), covering the catastrophic bushfires of 2019/20, which won the Logie, AACTA and AWGIE awards for best mini-series. She was also showrunner and head writer of the mini-series Safe Harbour (SBS), winner of an International Emmy Award, among other awards.

She was co-writer/story-producor on Stateless (ABC) and co-creator/writer of two seasons of Foxtel’s Secret City, and was also one of the key writers on the ABC AWGIE award-winning series Barracuda.

She has written for a number of other series, as well as the AWGIE-winning screenplay for the SBS telemovie Saved. She has directed two feature films - Lou, starring John Hurt (which she also wrote) and City Loop, starring Sullivan Stapleton.
