Screen Producers Australia (SPA) is excited to announce the inaugural SCREEN FOREVER Simpsons Pitching Competition, a new on-stage pitching opportunity designed to support the development of outstanding feature film projects from Australia’s producing community.
Open to professional feature film producers, the competition will highlight some of the most compelling projects currently in development, giving participants the chance to secure partners and resources to advance their work.
Four finalists will be selected to pitch live on stage at SCREEN FOREVER 40 on Wednesday 29 April 2026, presenting their projects to an esteemed industry jury. The winning project will be announced live during the conference.
Proudly sponsored by Simpsons, the winner will receive:
- A cash prize of $10,000 development costs
- Legal services valued at $3,000
- Curated one-on-one meetings with potential marketplace partners at the SPA Connect In-Person Market
Matthew Deaner, CEO of Screen Producers Australia, said: “The Simpsons Pitching Competition is a fantastic addition to SCREEN FOREVER, providing feature film producers with a high-profile platform to present their projects to industry decision-makers. This initiative is about fostering new opportunities to help kick start the type of bold storytelling that defines Australia's screen sector.”
Mark Bamford, Director at Simpsons Lawyers said: “Within our brilliant production sector the difficulty in accessing development funding is systemic. We hope the competition will bring some attention to the issue and move the needle, at least a little, for the successful applicant. We are pleased to be able to partner with SPA on the initiative and look forward to a fun pitching session.”
Applications open Monday 23 February and close Sunday 22 March 2026. Producers are encouraged to begin preparing their pitch decks and project synopses ahead of the application period.
