Australians can be immensely proud of our screen industry. From Bluey to Breath to Penguin Bloom, the outstanding content we produce makes a vital contribution to our nation’s cultural life.
Australia is also a prime destination for international film and television production with over 27 major productions choosing to film here since 2018.
These past two years have been an enormous challenge for Australians. We have all had to learn and adjust through this difficult time.
The response from our screen industry to this disruption and uncertainty has shown remarkable resilience. You have adapted, innovated, and moved at great speed – supporting each other and protecting lives and livelihoods.
That determination is reflected in the return of Screen Forever this year — happening in-person and virtually, across the country and around the world.
In this gathering, we see an industry that is confident, focused and committed to a standard of excellence that will ensure the sector’s future success.
Our Government’s Australian Screen Production Incentives and $50 million Temporary Interruption Fund will keep thousands of people employed and encourage investment as our nation reopens and recovers.
Australians are ready for work – performing, directing, building sets or creating special effects. And our magnificent locations are ready to be showcased.
I am confident the return of Screen Forever will inspire the next great projects of your industry and I look forward to seeing this great Australian content on our screens for years to come.
